20 Years of Praxisklinik at Johannisplatz

The Praxisklinik at Johannisplatz is an out-patient clinic of specialist medical practitioners which brings together the expertise of more than 80 doctors from many different fields. It celebrated its twentieth anniversary at the end of 2021.
Over the past twenty years, the Praxisklinik at Johannisplatz has established itself as a vital contributor to high-quality personal medical care in the region. Even patients from other parts of Germany and abroad have come to rely on the medical expertise of the doctors treating them here. At the Praxisklinik, all patients receive the expert medical care they require – both for diagnosis and therapy as well as for preventive health measures.
How it all began
The medical and architectural concepts for the Praxisklinik at Johannisplatz were drawn up in 1996/97 on the initiative of Leipzig doctors Christiane Volkheimer (ZRN Leipzig, retired) and Susanne Schenk (ZRN Leipzig). They then had their concepts developed to the point of applying for planning permission. Subsequently, the complex was built in two stages of construction by a private investor, Weishaupt Immobilien GbR, on the Johannisplatz site formerly belonging to the municipality.
The first practices began working at the end of 2001. The original space was first extended in 2005. This expansion section was completed in the spring of 2006, with the tenants moving into their new practices later the same year. A free-standing building was then added inside the Praxisklinik’s courtyard during a third stage of building in 2014. As a result, the total area of the Praxisklinik at Johannisplatz increased to 13,362 m² of useful space.
Everything under one roof
For two decades now, the Praxisklinik at Johannisplatz has been a permanent fixture in the health care of the people of Leipzig and the surrounding region. It brings together the medical expertise of many different specialist fields in a close, cooperative network, and provides the doctors practicing here with ideal conditions for their demanding and conscientious daily work.
